Integrated Swedish and Deep Tissue
I am often asked what I would call my style of massage. My answer is often, Kristina’s massage, but truly it best described as Integrated Swedish and Deep Tissue. I use the long flowing strokes of Swedish to relax and prepare the body and move into deep tissue strokes to relieve aches, pains and deeply embedded stress. This provides a feeling of relaxation while all the kinks are being worked out. I work within each clients comfort level, although with this technique most clients find they can tolerate deeper pressure and rarely experience the soreness that usually accompanies a deep tissue session.
Prenatal
I thoroughly enjoy working with pregnant women. I provide a safe nurturing atmosphere for the mother-to-be to relax and achieve greater health for herself and her baby. Some studies are showing that women who receive regular massage during pregnancy have shorter easier labor, and healthier babies.
I believe that the safest positioning for a pregnant woman over 20 weeks is side-lying and semi-reclining and provide appropriate cushioning for her comfort. I am specifically trained in prenatal and can work with women at all stages of pregnancy no matter what the condition. Several OB/GYNs in Flagstaff refer their patients to me.
La Stone
La Stone is the original Hot Rock Massage. Unlike the generic hot rock massage seen in every spa in the world these days, La Stone is a very specific treatment that requires extensive training.
In La Stone, the rocks do a lot of the work. They are placed under and on top of the body, between the toes, and are also used with the long flowing strokes of Swedish massage as well as deeper trigger point style work. Their warmth and energy penetrate deeply into the body, allowing for deep blissful relaxation. More than any other treatment my clients leave this one feeling, well ah… stoned. : )
